Popular Irish Baby Boy Names

Here are the top 100 Irish baby boy names in 2005, listed in order of popularity. Jack returns to the top spot it held in 2002, after two years of being number two to Sean, the most popular boy’s name of 2003 and 2004. Exactly the same boys names - Jack, Sean, Conor, Adam and James - have been in the top 5 since 1998, with only their order changing from year to year.

There were 3 first time entries in the top 100 for boys: Calum, Leo and Oscar. Calum was the highest new entry, as it rose from 160th place in 2000 and 117th place in 2004. Ruairi returned to the top 100 after a year’s absence.
